Website Launch Checklist: 15 Things to Check Before You Go Live

A launch is easier when you work from a list. Go through these before you point your domain at a new site.

The Checklist

1. Test on a real phone

Check every page on a phone, not just a resized desktop window.

2. Check page speed

Compress images and test with PageSpeed Insights.

3. Test every form

Submit each form and confirm the email actually arrives.

4. Click every link and button

Fix anything that leads to an error page.

5. Unique titles and descriptions

Each page needs its own.

6. One H1 per page

Make it clear what the page is about.

7. Image alt text

Describe each image briefly.

8. HTTPS everywhere

Make sure the site loads securely and redirects to one preferred address.

9. Set up redirects

If you changed URLs, redirect the old ones to the new pages.

10. Add analytics

Install analytics and set up conversion tracking for forms and WhatsApp clicks.

11. Submit your sitemap

Add the site to Google Search Console and submit the sitemap.

12. Show contact details clearly

Phone, WhatsApp, address and opening hours should be easy to find.

13. Privacy and terms pages

Tell visitors how you use their data.

14. Create a custom 404 page

Help lost visitors get back on track.

15. Back up the old site

Keep a copy in case you need to roll back.
