An SEO audit is a health check for your website. It tells you what is stopping Google from finding, understanding and ranking your pages. Here is a checklist you can run yourself, in the order we usually work through it.
1. Technical Health
Can Google index your pages?
Check Google Search Console for pages that are excluded or not indexed. Make sure robots.txt is not blocking important pages and your sitemap is submitted.
HTTPS and one version of your site
Your site should load on https and redirect the non-www or www version to a single preferred address.
Mobile friendliness
Open your site on a phone. Text should be readable, buttons easy to tap and nothing should run off the screen.
Speed
Slow pages lose visitors. Test with PageSpeed Insights and fix heavy images and unused scripts first.
Broken links and error pages
Fix links that lead to 404 pages and redirect old URLs to the closest new page.
2. On-Page Basics
Unique title tags
Each page needs its own title that includes the main keyword and stays short enough to display fully in search results.
Meta descriptions
Write a clear summary for each page. It will not rank you directly, but it affects whether people click.
One clear H1 per page
The main heading should say what the page is about in plain words.
Image alt text and file size
Describe images briefly and compress them before uploading.
Internal links
Link related pages to each other so visitors and Google can follow your site easily.
Tip: fix the issues that block indexing first. Better titles do nothing if Google cannot see the page.
3. Content
List the questions your customers ask and check whether you have a page that answers each one. Look for thin pages with only a few lines, duplicate pages that compete with each other, and service pages that never mention the area you serve. Content that answers real questions also helps with AI answer engines.
4. Local Signals
For Singapore businesses with a physical location, check that your Google Business Profile is complete, your name, address and phone number match everywhere, and you ask happy customers for reviews. Our guide to ranking on Google Maps goes deeper.
5. Prioritise
Sort what you find into three groups: blocks indexing, hurts conversions, and nice to have. Fix them in that order. If you would like a second pair of eyes, book a free discovery call or see our SEO services.
