"How much does SEO cost?" is the first question every Singapore business owner asks, and the honest first answer is: it depends on how many keywords you want to rank for and how competitive they are. This guide shows the pricing models you will see, what changes the number, and how to compare quotes properly.
The Three Ways SEO Is Priced
Monthly retainer
The most common model. You pay each month for a set number of keywords, content and technical work. Best for ongoing growth.
One-off project
An audit, a site clean-up or a content push for a fixed fee. Useful as a start, but rankings need continued work.
Hourly or consulting
You pay for advice and your own team does the work. Works if you already have in-house skills.
What We Charge, and What Is Typical
Our SEO plans are SGD 800 per month for 25 keywords and SGD 1,200 per month for 50 keywords. Many agencies in Singapore quote from around SGD 1,700 per month for a similar scope. AEO (getting cited by ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews) starts from SGD 600 per month. All prices are in SGD.
Rule of thumb: price is driven by the number of keywords, how competitive they are, and how much content and technical work your site needs. A quote that does not mention keywords, deliverables or reporting is not a real quote.
What Changes the Price
Number of keywords
Ranking for 25 terms takes less work than 100. Each keyword needs a page, content and links that support it.
Competition
"Dental clinic Singapore" is harder than "wisdom tooth removal Tampines". Harder terms need more content and more authority.
Your website's starting point
A slow site, thin pages or technical errors add set-up work before rankings can move.
Content volume
Blogs, service pages and location pages all take writing time. More pages usually means a higher monthly fee.
Reporting and communication
Monthly reports and calls are worth paying for. Ask what you will receive and how often.
How Long Until You See Results
Plan on 6 to 9 months for competitive keywords to rank. Easier long-tail terms can move sooner. Any agency promising page-one results in a few weeks is either picking very easy keywords or not being honest with you. We usually ask for a 3-month initial commitment, then move to a rolling monthly contract with 30 days notice.
Red Flags When Comparing Quotes
What to watch for
Guaranteed #1 rankings. Nobody controls Google. A guarantee is a warning sign.
No keyword list. If they will not tell you which keywords they are targeting, you cannot judge the work.
Very cheap monthly fees. Low prices usually mean very little work, copied content or risky link buying.
Long lock-in contracts. Good SEO earns its place. Look for a short commitment and a clear way out.
Vague reports. Traffic and ranking numbers should come with plain-English explanations of what was done.
